Current rate structure

Stamp duty in Punjab is levied on the higher of transaction value or collector rate. Commercial property attracts stamp duty at rates prevailing in Punjab [VERIFY: current gazette notification — typically 7% plus registration fee 1%]. A woman-buyer rebate and joint-registration rebate may apply.

How charges are calculated

Charges apply on the higher of (a) declared sale consideration in the deed and (b) the collector-rate value for that GMADA sector. Include a 1% registration fee on top of stamp duty when budgeting closing costs.
